Description
"Dominican Woodpecker" by Debbie Oppermann. I was thrilled to see the gorgeous Hispaniolan Woodpecker on the Palm tree in the Dominican Republic. They are endemic to the Caribbean island of Hispaniola which means that they are found nowhere else in the world. They are just beautiful with yellow and black stripes on their back and red heads. They love eating the insects from the Palm trees and this woodpecker took a super photograph with the bright sunshine and palm leaves as background.
