"Duomo Portal" by Debbie Oppermann. The Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore, or in english, Basilica of Saint Mary of the Flower, or as it is commonly called, The Duomo, in Florence Italy is one of Italy's largest churches. It has polychrome marble panels in various shades of green and pink bordered by white and has an elaborate 19th century gothic facade. The whole facade is dedicated to the Mother of Christ. The huge bronze doors are adorned with scenes from the life of the Madonna. The tourists admire the stunning architecture in the rain on the cobblestone street.
