"Free Ride" by Debbie Oppermann. I am going to assume that the American Alligator was not hungry and that the Great Egret knew it was not the reptile's feeding time or it figured it was quicker and could get away and it wanted the free ride more! In all likelihood, the gator was used to having the Egrets around and since they both frequent the same wetlands, marshes and swamps, they were like one big family. The very elegant Great White Heron, the rough textured skin of the Alligator and the fabulous water reflections made me quite happy with this capture.

Great capture! The reflection of the egret is gorgeous, and butted up against that alligator makes me think: Pretty and dangerous all at once.
