Description
"Public Works Canada" by Debbie Oppermann. I found this rusted metal Public Works Canada device embedded in solid rock with nothing else around it except rock at the Dalles Rapids French River Ontario Canada. I found it very strange to say the least. What purpose did it have? There was not a thing at the rapids that would suggest something that wasn't natural to the area. There were some abandoned boilers and an alligator boat farther along the river but not at the rapids. Just something to ponder!

A great find indeed. Being in the business of water and wastewater, I always look for images of manhole covers and well-heads (which is what I suspect this is) along with public works stamps just like this one. I am guessing this was at some point this might have been a monitoring well for water level at the river, but I could be wrong. Nevertheless, it looks AWESOME.

Thanks so much Hany and thanks for the info, I do believe you could be right as this was where they attempted many years ago to open up the falls that were there back then and it didn't work so they ended up with the rapids
