"The Hunter" by Debbie Oppermann. I came across this Harris's Hawk, Parabuteo unicinctus, Dusky Hawk or Bay Winged Hawk, while hiking at the Rockwood Conservation Area, Rockwood Ontario Canada. It was perched on the arm of a man who explained to me that it was not a pet, it was a hunter. What a majestic, beautiful raptor with chestnut, black and white feathers and yellow beak and talons. This gorgeous Hawk is unique among birds of prey as it employs cooperative hunting with a hunting party of up to six. They pounce on their prey overwhelming it with numbers. I was thrilled to capture this image as the Harris's Hawk is not native to Canada.
