Description
"Viceroy Butterfly" by Debbie Oppermann. This beautiful Viceroy Butterfly, Limenitis Archippus, resting on a wild plant in the meadow in Guelph Ontario Canada, is quite similar to the Monarch Butterfly. It has a lovely tawny orange and black pattern with white spots edging the wings and is found in meadows, swamps and marshes. By imitating the distasteful Monarch, it is less likely to be attacked by predators.
