Description
"Autumn Wild Rose Hips" by Debbie Oppermann. It was a cold and beautiful day for a walk at the arboretum in Guelph Ontario Canada. The white layer of frost on everything was just starting to melt and the rose hips and leaves were still glistening. The rose bush was especially lovely with the golden morning light shining on it. Many gardeners prune the faded roses to encourage more blooms for the season but if you don't prune them and allow the faded blossoms to stay on the rose bush, they produce small berry sized reddish seed balls that are not only food for the birds but are also quite lovely as an ornamental for fall garden interest.
