Description
"Calhoun Lodge Black And White I" by Debbie Oppermann. This cottage is a look back in time to the early 1900's when Joseph C. Calhoun purchased 300 acres on the shore of Blackstone Harbour Ontario. He was a lawyer from Cleveland Ohio who just loved the area and wanted to spend time in the summer at this beautiful location. The home was built with logs and materials from the area as well as all the outbuildings like an ice house, generator shed, caretaker's cabin, maintenance shed and more. The name of the cabin was Willebejobe named after his children and wife. He did a little farming and spent the rest of his time fishing and hunting. He passed away in 1972 and in 1974 the property was purchased by the Ministry of Government Services for the purpose of the provincial park. Restoration started in the 1990's but has since fallen into disrepair. It is a wonderful old, weathered log cabin and hopefully will be cleaned up and restored again.
