Description
"Cup Plant And The Bee" by Debbie Oppermann. The bright yellow "ray florets" or petals of the Cup Plant from the Aster family, make quite the impression in a wildflower garden. This wildflower blooms in the summer on stalks up to or more than ten feet tall. The "cup" is a depression formed where the opposing leaves meet the square stem. It is also called Indian Cup, Ragged Cup and Carpenter Weed. It is native to Ontario and its habitat is fields and open areas. As you can see the bees love it and also the birds in the fall especially the Finches are all over the seeds.
