"Grumpy Hummer" by Debbie Oppermann. It had rained all day at the Key River Ontario Canada and this very grumpy looking Ruby Throated Hummingbird was perched miserably on the tree branch. The beautiful male is unmistakable with its emerald green feathers and iridescent ruby red throat. Its long beak enables it to reach deep into the blooms for the nectar it needs to survive. The Hummers are inquisitive and attracted to the color red so will venture quite close to anyone wearing red.
