"Just Looking Around" by Debbie Oppermann. This quick, agile little songbird was posing for the photo on a tree branch at the arboretum in Guelph Ontario Canada. The White Breasted Nuthatch is a small, stocky, acrobatic songbird that forages for seeds and insects in crevices or under the bark of mostly deciduous trees, characteristically with it's head down. They have a black cap and the plumage is blue gray and white. It was definitely a "Nuthatch" day as there were so many around that my head was on a swivel trying to capture the best poses.
