Description
"Juvenile Downy Woodpecker" by Debbie Oppermann. It is the funniest thing! This juvenile male Downy Woodpecker likes to spend time in the bird house hanging in the tree. A birdhouse for a woodpecker, who would have thought! Then it flies out and lands on the wooden arbor and checks it out and then goes to the feeder. It does this several times a day and has no cares as to who is around or how close we are. The Downy's are small, with the male having the red patch on the back of the head and give a checkered black and white impression.
