Description
"Making Progress" by Debbie Oppermann. "Behold the turtle, he makes progress only when he sticks his neck out." This quote from James Bryant Conant suits this image of the Painted Turtle that worked it's way up the large rock to the top. Slow but steady! Take a chance! The Painted Turtle, Chryseys Picta, is a reptile that lives in slow moving freshwater and is only active during the day when it basks for hours on logs or rocks. This small turtle with red and yellow stripes on its neck, head and tail was enjoying the sunshine on a rock in the shallows of Franklin Island Georgian Bay Ontario Canada.
