Description
"Merlins" by Debbie Oppermann. Caught in the act of mating, these Merlins looked like they were performing an intricate dance. These Merlin Falcons were mating in my Maple tree in my backyard in spring in Guelph Ontario Canada. They are small with heavily streaked plumage and look too small to do much damage but they are fierce and energetic birds of prey. When not hunting, they like to perch in open areas to scan for prey. Small but mighty comes to mind!
