"Monarch And Lilacs" by Debbie Oppermann. This nectaring Monarch Butterfly, Guelph Ontario Canada, is feeding on the lovely purple Lilac blooms. It was a little early this year migrating back as it's favorite flowers were not blooming yet. Unfortunately the Monarch Butterfly numbers are decreasing as it is losing its main food supply due to urban sprawl. Fields and flowers are diminishing as we continue to expand cities and towns. Gardeners need to plant the flowers to attract the butterflies.
