Description
"The Cardinal Stare" by Debbie Oppermann. This beautiful, brilliant, male Northern Red Cardinal, Cardinalis cardinalis, was showing a little attitude as it heard the shutter clicks and spotted me while resting on the rock by the pond in my backyard. It was giving me quite the stare or glare I guess, as if to say "Leave me alone." I thought the bright red of the plumage and the purple of the Clematis blooms complimented each other nicely.

Capturing the stare of a cardinal is no easy task Debbie, with that black mask you can hardly see his eyes! Thank you for sharing this special moment captured in time! An instant favorite!

I would love to get to see the Cardinal stare, (in person someday) They do have a look... Love this Red beauty.. I never knew if they were called Cardinal Red for the Bird or for the Cardinal Red Suit of the Catholic Cardinal? Well I guess the bird came first, so.........anyways... Hope you have a good holiday.
