Description
"Where Poppies Grow" by Debbie Oppermann. In Flanders fields the poppies blow, is the first line of a poem written by John McCrae to remember the soldiers that died and were wounded in the the first World War. A resident of Guelph Ontario Canada, he was a poet, physician, author and soldier. In Canada, the Poppy is the official symbol of remembrance. The crepe paper like petals and the black whorl in the center is an attractive addition to the late spring or early summer garden and it also grows wild in the fields.
