The boardwalk is part of the Wild Goose Woods trail and when it crosses the swamp you enter beautiful woodland. The boardwalk is a necessity to observe the migrating birds in the spring and also the nesting of the Pileated Woodpecker, the Flicker and more. You also find deer and mink in the swamp occasionally as well.
