"Winter Cedars" by Debbie Oppermann. My favorite trail to walk in Guelph Ontario Canada is the Speed River Trail which goes through Niska woods and along the Speed River. The native, Eastern White Cedar trees with the reddish bark, line the trail in some areas and provide not only a canopy along the path but wonderful winter interest. The contrast of the red brown tree trunks and bare branches with the white of the snow is stunning.
