Description
"Nectaring Moth" by Debbie Oppermann. This reddish brown Clearwing Hummingbird Moth, Hemaris, entertained me for quite some time as it flitted from one pink bloom to another of the Butterfly Bush, Buddleia. It comes by its name honestly as it hovers, hums and nectars just like the Hummingbird and it loves the same flowers.

Nice job! This critter is incredibly hard to capture. I first encountered it near the Joshua National Park. It flew so fast I hardly figure out what it was. The 2nd time was in Southern China. 3rd time also in China but I didn’t have a tele-lens with me. Finally in Japan I had a sharpe enough shot of it after suffering the sweltering Tokyo afternoon sun.

Wow that is some story, we have them regular here in Ontario but definitely hard to get a good shot of them
