"Horned Lark Foraging" by Debbie Oppermann. I have been searching for the Horned Lark all winter and finally found a plowed corn field on the outskirts of Guelph Ontario Canada where there were quite a few of these songbirds. Trying to get a close capture of these small birds requires a little patience as just driving down the road from a distance seems to startle them and they fly further into the field. So you sit and wait until they return. They are small birds with a long body and small bill, brown above, pale below with a black chest band. The males have a black mask, yellow on the head and throat and tiny black hornlike feathers on the head which are not always visible. They are pretty darn cute.
Welcome to the Fine Art Gallery of Debbie Oppermann I am a Canadian nature and wildlife photographer from Guelph Ontario Canada. My main interests are animals, nature and landscapes. I have received special recognition in the form of special features in Fine Art Groups, competition winners and/or published images including Canadian Geographic, Canadian Wildlife, Photolife, Sigma Canada, Outdoor Photography Canada, Our Canada and PhotoNews. I love to spend every day possible in nature, capturing everything from landscapes to animals to a simple flower or a minute insect. Photography for me, is both relaxing and exhilarating and every capture is pure joy. I am very fortunate to have many trails in my area, especially along the Speed...
