"Single White Dogwood Blossom" by Debbie Oppermann. I am fascinated with the blossoms on the Flowering Dogwood tree that is labelled as endangered in Ontario Canada. I had always assumed that the white leaves were actually the white petals but I was wrong as the center is the actual flower and the white petals are actually leaves. The tiny yellow flowers grown in clusters at the end of small branches are surrounded by four large showy white leaves (bracts) and this is one lovely spring bloom that everyone looks forward to seeing.
