"Vanda In Purple" by Debbie Oppermann. It was quite a thrill for me to see this gorgeous purple Vanda Orchid, an epiphyte, growing on this tree in Orlando Florida USA. This elegant and exotic orchid has a blue tinge with leathery green leaves and a superb blue purple spray bursting from the center of the leaves. Epiphytes are air plants and have their roots exposed and can be grown in the home in an open type basket with no soil and their roots hanging in the air. I have one at home and am eagerly awaiting the blooms.
