Description
"White Crowned Sparrow On The Rocks" by Debbie Oppermann. This beautiful, White Crowned Sparrow, Zonotrichia leucophrys, made a stop at my house in Guelph Ontario Canada, on its way to northern Canada where it resides until time to migrate south. The smart black and white head, pale beak and crisp gray breast combine for quite a dashing look. These Sparrows are known for their alertness mechanism, which allows it to stay awake for up to 2 weeks during migration.
